Nau mai, haere mai ki Te Kura
At Te Aho o Te Kura Pounamu (Te Kura), our ākonga are always at the centre of what we do. For more than a century, we've supported learners across Aotearoa — evolving from lessons once delivered on horseback to today's future focused learning that can be done anywhere, anytime.
Ākonga at Te Kura choose subjects based on their passions and interests, accessing learning online supported by kaiako who guide, inspire, and drive engagement. Alongside this, kaiako provide pastoral care and connect with ākonga through regular huinga ako — online or face to face — where learners connect, receive guidance, and strengthen their sense of belonging.
Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this position
We are seeking an innovative, collaborative Team Leader to guide and lead our team of Early Childhood Kaiako. In this role you will:
- Provide leadership to a team of teachers who work in partnership with parents, supervisors, and whānau to design personalised learning programmes grounded in Te Whāriki — He whāriki mātauranga mō ngā mokopuna o Aotearoa.
- Bring strong curriculum knowledge and experience to shape high‑quality distance learning
- Contribute to Te Kura's journey toward becoming a bilingual organisation — proficiency in te reo Māori is desirable
Kaiako at Te Kura engage with our ākonga online and face-to-face at huinga ako (advisories) and events, and also work onsite with colleagues in our regional offices. Te Kura aims to provide flexible working arrangements, so Kaiako are able to request to work from home for up to two days per week.
