Kaiako | Teacher – Pathways
Nau mai, haere mai ki Te Kura
At Te Aho o Te Kura Pounamu (Te Kura), our ākonga sit at the centre of everything we do. For more than 100 years, we've supported learners across Aotearoa — evolving from lessons once delivered on horseback to flexible, future‑focused learning that happens anywhere, anytime.
Today, Te Kura provides personalised distance learning programmes from early childhood through to Year 13, as well as young adult and adult learners. Our ākonga select subjects aligned to their passions and interests, accessing learning online and supported by kaiako who motivate, guide, and foster engagement.
Alongside teaching and learning, our kaiako provide strong pastoral care and build genuine relationships with ākonga through regular huinga ako — online and face‑to‑face — where learners receive guidance, feel connected, and strengthen their sense of belonging.
