Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this position
The AI Capability Lead is responsible for leading the development and implementation of AI-related professional learning and development (PLD) initiatives across Te Kura.
This role focuses on building organisational capability by upskilling kaimahi in the safe, effective, and practical use of artificial intelligence. It supports the development of knowledge, confidence, and applied skills so AI can be used appropriately within day-to-day work and in ways that enhance outcomes for ākonga.
As a AI Capability Lead you will:

Lead the design and delivery of practical, accessible AI PLD that supports kaimahi at all confidence levels.

Work alongside teams to explore safe, effective AI use that enhances their mahi and benefits ākonga.

Coordinate AI workstreams, share insights and risks, and help Te Kura prepare for ongoing change.

You're someone who's comfortable with technology, curious about AI, and confident supporting others to learn. You enjoy making things clearer, easier, and more achievable for the people around you.
We're looking for someone who:

You use AI tools regularly, are confident in online systems, and can translate complex ideas into simple, practical guidance.

You have experience designing and delivering PLD or training for adults, and you enjoy helping others build capability at their own pace.

You show good judgement, communicate clearly, and are committed to culturally responsive practice and Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
